Servants of Pentecost, servants of indigenous languages
Founded in the Spirit of Pentecost for the languages of all peoples
Servi Pentecostes (Servants of Pentecost) is a Catholic male religious congregation of pontifical right, established in 2026 and dedicated to a singular, urgent mission: the development and promotion of indigenous languages as an act of evangelization, justice, and inculturation.
Our founding was inspired by the mystery of Pentecost — when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and enabled them to proclaim the marvels of God "in the tongues of all peoples" (Acts 2:11). This miraculous outpouring revealed that the Gospel is not bound to any single culture or language, but is destined for every people, to be received in the fullness of their own linguistic and cultural identity.
We believe that every language bears the imprint of the Creator and serves as a vessel of grace, culture, and divine revelation. The suppression or neglect of indigenous languages constitutes a spiritual and cultural wound requiring healing. Our mission is to ensure that no language is deemed too small, too remote, or too "primitive" to bear the weight of divine glory.
Pentecostal, Eucharistic, Marian, Scriptural, and Incarnational
Docility to the Holy Spirit, who empowers our apostolate and grants the "tongues" necessary for mission. The solemnity of Pentecost is our principal feast.
The Sacred Liturgy, celebrated in the vernacular where permitted, is the summit and source of all linguistic apostolate.
Entrusting all work to Mary, Queen of Pentecost, who prayed with the Apostles in the Upper Room and received the Spirit before all others.
Devoted to lectio divina, particularly in indigenous languages, and to the study of the Bible as the source of all translation.
Embracing the material, cultural, and linguistic conditions of the communities we serve, following the Word who "became flesh and dwelt among us."
Heavenly intercessors for our mission
Source of all tongues and gifts, to whom the congregation is consecrated.
Who pondered the Word in her heart and intercedes for our mission.
Prince of the Apostles, who first proclaimed the Gospel to the nations on Pentecost.
Doctor of the Church and translator of Holy Scripture, patron of linguists.
First indigenous saint of North America, model of faithfulness to native identity.
Patron of Sudan and of victims of human trafficking, model of liberation and dignity.
